ModBench is a free tool for building and exporting Minecraft modpacks. This policy explains what information is collected when you use it, and why.

1. Who we are

ModBench (modbench.net) is an independent, non-commercial project. It is not affiliated with Mojang, Microsoft, or Modrinth. If you have questions about this policy, you can reach out via the contact details on the site.

2. Information you provide

If you choose to create an account, we collect:

Email address and password (if you sign up directly), or
Basic profile information (such as your name, email address, and profile picture) if you sign in using a third-party provider like Google.

Creating an account is optional. You can browse mods and build a modpack without signing in — an account is only needed to save modpacks to your profile or sync favorites across devices.

3. Information collected automatically

We use standard, minimal technical logging to keep the site running (for example, error and performance logs). We do not use advertising trackers, and we do not sell any information to third parties.

4. Local storage

ModBench stores some data directly in your browser using localStorage, rather than on a server. This includes your theme preference (light/dark), language selection, and — if you're not signed in — the contents of the modpack you're currently building. This data stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

5. Third-party services

ModBench relies on a small number of third-party services to function:

Modrinth API — mod listings, descriptions, and download files are pulled live from Modrinth. Your browser communicates directly with Modrinth's servers when you browse or download mods; see Modrinth's privacy policy for details.
Supabase — if you create an account, your account data (email and authentication details) is stored and managed via Supabase, our backend provider.
Sign-in providers (such as Google) — if you choose to sign in with a third-party provider, that provider shares basic profile information with us as permitted by your settings with them.

6. How we use your information

Any information we collect is used only to:

Let you sign in and save your modpacks and favorites;
Keep the site secure and working correctly;
Respond to support requests, if you contact us.

We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent your information to anyone.

7. Data retention and deletion

If you have an account, your data is kept for as long as your account exists. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us; we'll remove it within a reasonable timeframe, except where we're required to retain certain records by law.

8. Children's privacy

ModBench is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time as the site evolves. Significant changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
